Starlink Software Collection - "Humu (Altair)" Release
February 8, 2008 - The Joint Astronomy Centre announces a new
release of the Starlink Software Collection.
Highlights of the "Humu (Altair)" release include:
- It is now possible to relocate the release into any directory.
- GAIA can now volume render cubes, allowing for improved
visualization.
- A new KAPPA application called PLUCK allows for the extraction of
interpolated WCS co-ordinates that may not correspond to a pixel
centre. For instance, a spectrum can be obtained at given equatorial
co-ordinates from a spectral cube.
- File provenance is now added to output files, allowing one to track
the input files through the entire history of the file.

notes.

Downloading the software
You can download tar files of the software collection for a number of
architectures from the download
page.
JAC currently runs 32- and 64-bit Linux operationally. Other platforms
are supported on a best efforts basis.
Support
The Starlink Project was terminated in June 2005. The Starlink
Software Collection is being maintained by the JAC, with support from
STFC, for the benefit of our
users. Bugs or feature requests reproducible with UKIRT or JCMT data
sets should be e-mailed to stardev@jach.hawaii.edu
where they will be attended to in priority order.
Non-JAC users are encouraged to report bugs to starlink@jiscmail.ac.uk where
they may be attended to on a best-efforts basis by volunteers. To be able
to send mail to this list you must be subscribed; please see the subscription
instructions. This list is fairly low volume.
Open source developers wishing to send in patches or wanting access to
the Subversion repository should email stardev@jiscmail.ac.uk. The
Subversion repository can be browsed here and can be checked out for read
only access using:
% svn checkout https://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/svn/trunk starbuild
Announcements about Starlink software releases by the Joint Astronomy
Centre will be made on the starlink-announce mailing list. To subscribe,
visit the starlink-announce webpage.
Licensing
The bulk of the collection is distributed under the GNU Public Licence, and the
remainder under the old
Starlink Licence.
Refer to the code in individual packages for more information.
